Distillers grains is an important co-product created during the production of corn-based ethanolEthanol: A clean-burning, high octane, renewable fuel made from grain or other biomass sources. Ethanol can be used as an effective octane-boosting fuel additive or as a stand-alone fuel.. The only component of the corn kernel used in producing ethanol is starch. Once this is extracted, the leftover fiber, protein and fatty oils are re-blended with solubles (corn syrup produced during distillation) to create a highly concentrated, high-protein livestock feed. This feed can either be dried for transport over long distances or kept wet for use in nearby feedyards.
Due to their proximity to nearby feedyards, Panda's biomassBiomass: Plant matter such as trees, grasses, agricultural crops or other biological material such as cattle manure. fueled ethanol plants will not be required to dry their distillers grains for transport. This will create substantial energy savings that will add to the economic performance of each facility.
Regardless whether a particular facility produces a wet or dry co-product, Panda Ethanol is dedicated to producing distillers grains of the highest quality and consistency. Accordingly, we are developing rigorous process controls, testing and handling procedures to further differentiate ourselves from more "traditional" ethanol facilities.
