Founded in 2006, Panda Ethanol is a former subsidiary of Panda Energy International Inc. Most of Panda Ethanol's current employees and executive management team are former employees of Panda Energy and have extensive experience in developing large-scale power projects. Panda Ethanol is a public company and is traded over the counter under the symbol "PDAE." Panda Energy remains one of Panda Ethanol's single largest shareholders.
Panda Energy has 25 years of experience in the energy sector developing, financing, constructing and operating independent power generation facilities both domestically and internationally. The company developed, financed and constructed two of the largest gas-fired merchant electric generation facilities in the United States totaling 4,400 MW; financed, constructed and operated the first $100 million U.S. sponsored run-of-the-river hydroelectric project in the state of Nepal; and obtained the first U.S. capital markets financing for construction of a power plant in The People's Republic of China. Altogether, the company has raised more than $5 billion to develop and build more than 9,000 MW of generating capacity.
